Aircon cooling drops when two rooms run

If one unit cools fine alone but both weaken when running together, the cause can be load sharing, distribution, or system performance limits.

Common causes

These are likely causes for this symptom. Compare them with what you are seeing now to narrow it down. This is indicative only. To confirm the problem, contact us.

01. Normal load-sharing limitation

Low risk

With two rooms active, available cooling must be shared. During higher room load, both rooms can feel weaker.

  • Single-room cooling is better.
  • Both rooms weaken together under dual run.
  • Pattern is repeatable and stable.

Solution: We verify normal load-sharing behavior first before assigning fault causes.

Remarks: A shared-demand pattern is not always a hardware failure.

02. Distribution imbalance between indoor units

Book a check

If flow distribution is uneven, one room may keep more cooling while the other falls off quickly. The gap becomes obvious in dual operation.

  • One room stays fair while the other drops sharply.
  • Airflow or cooling feel differs clearly between units.
  • Pattern repeats even with similar settings.

Solution: We check distribution behavior and indoor balance before larger system assumptions.

Remarks: Treating imbalance as a single-part failure too early can miss the real path.

03. System performance limit under multi-load

Book a check

A weak compressor or control path can cope with light demand but fail under combined indoor load.

  • Dual-run cooling has worsened recently.
  • Recovery after one unit off is slower than before.
  • Additional stress signs may appear in longer runs.

Solution: We test multi-load behavior and identify the root limit before recommending scope.

Remarks: Approving broad replacement without multi-load checks can overshoot the needed fix.

Other possible causes

Different room heat load and size can make cooling look uneven when both rooms are active.

How to tell

  • Problem is stronger in higher-load room.
  • Pattern is stable and predictable.
  • No electrical warning signs appear.

If this pattern keeps worsening, move to diagnosis early.

Before you contact us (optional)

Just observe, no disassembly required:

  • Single-room result: good cooling / moderate cooling / still weak
  • Dual-room result: both slightly weaker / one much weaker / both much weaker
  • Recovery pattern: quick recovery / slow recovery / little recovery
  • Trend over time: stable / slowly worsening / fast worsening

Stop using the unit if you notice these

Cooling drop is usually diagnosis-level unless safety signs appear.

  • Burning or electrical smell
  • Breaker tripping repeatedly
  • Harsh abnormal outdoor noise
