Aircon fan speed not changing

When fan speed does not change, the issue may be command, control, or airflow behavior. The key is whether the unit receives the command and whether airflow changes at all.

01. Command path not reaching the unit

The remote command appears to change, but the indoor unit does not receive or apply the fan speed request.

  • Other commands may also feel delayed or ignored.
  • No audible change happens after a fan speed command.
  • Airflow stays the same across repeated command attempts.

Solution: We confirm command reception before we move to fan motor or board fault assumptions.

Remarks: Replacing the fan motor too early can miss a simple command path issue.

02. Mode behavior limiting speed changes

Some operating conditions reduce how much the fan speed change is felt, so the unit appears stuck even when the command is accepted.

  • The issue appears only in certain modes or room conditions.
  • Cooling remains stable but airflow difference is hard to notice.

  • The behavior changes when operating mode or room load changes.
  • There is no abnormal noise, smell, or jitter in the indoor fan pattern.

If the unit ignores commands across different conditions, treat it as a diagnosis issue.
