Aircon Troubleshooting & Repair in Singapore

Most aircon faults start as a symptom — not cold, leaking, tripping, or flashing an error. We troubleshoot the actual cause before naming any parts or repair scope.

How we approach every troubleshooting and repair job

  • Diagnosis before repair scope

We confirm the fault before naming parts or costs. You do not approve a repair based on a guess — you approve it based on what we found.

  • No work without your agreement

After the diagnostic, you get a clear fault, scope, and cost. Nothing proceeds until you say yes. If the repair does not make sense for the unit's age or condition, we tell you that instead.

  • We tell you when repair is not worth it

If the confirmed repair cost is high relative to the unit age and its likely remaining life, we say so plainly before any work starts.

Signs your aircon needs troubleshooting — not just servicing

These patterns suggest a fault rather than a maintenance issue. Servicing will not fix them. A troubleshooting visit is the right starting point.

  • Suddenly stopped cooling despite airflow feeling normal
  • Breaker trips when the unit starts or runs
  • Burning or melted-plastic smell from the unit
  • Flashing lights or error code on the display
  • Water leaks that returned within days of a recent clean
  • Outdoor unit not running or not starting

How the troubleshooting works

Every job starts with a structured fault-path check. We work through the likely causes in order before touching anything or quoting any parts.

  1. 1. Fault information before the visit

We ask for the brand, what the unit is doing, and how long it has been happening. This helps us prepare the right checks and reduces time spent on-site ruling out unlikely causes.

  2. 2. Systematic fault-path check

We work through each system in order: airflow path, refrigerant circuit, electrical components, and controls. The goal is to confirm the actual fault, not guess from the symptom.

  3. 3. Confirmed fault, clear scope

Once the fault is identified, we explain what it is, what it needs, and what it costs — before any repair work starts. Nothing proceeds without your agreement.

  4. 4. Same-visit repair where possible

If the confirmed fault can be fixed immediately and the parts are available, we complete the repair on the same visit. If a part needs ordering, we explain the next step and timing.

  5. 5. Test before leaving

After the repair, we run the unit and confirm the original fault is cleared. If anything else is flagged during the check, we tell you before the job closes.

When to isolate the unit immediately

These are not wait-and-see situations. Isolate the unit at the circuit breaker and call us.

  • Burning or melted-plastic smell
  • Breaker trips repeatedly on every startup
  • Water pooling near electrical points or wiring
  • Sparking, arcing, or severe banging from the unit

Diagnostic visit fee

The on-site check fee covers the trip and diagnostic time. It is waived if you go ahead with the recommended repair work on the same visit.

  • On-site diagnostic — $30/visit
  • Waived if repair work proceeds
  • Repair parts and labour quoted separately after diagnosis

What we troubleshoot

The complaint pattern determines where the diagnostic starts. Most faults fall into one of these groups. We confirm the actual cause before naming the fix.

  • Sudden cooling loss or warm air despite normal fan speed
  • Water leak or repeated dripping after a recent clean
  • Breaker trip, burning smell, or power-cut complaints
  • Blinking light, error code, or short-cycling
  • Outdoor unit not running or not starting
  • Noise, vibration, or rattling from indoor or outdoor unit
  • One room warmer than the others in the same system
  • Remote, display, or control faults

When troubleshooting is not the starting point

If the unit is cooling but smells musty, has weak airflow, or is overdue for cleaning, a servicing visit is more appropriate. Troubleshooting is for faults — sudden changes, recurring problems, or anything that servicing already could not fix.

  • Musty or dusty smell without other fault signs → start with servicing
  • Weak airflow that developed gradually → likely servicing
  • Problem that started right after a recent chemical wash → may still be a cleaning issue
  • Overdue unit with no specific fault → general servicing first
