Aircon Electrical Work in Singapore

Every aircon system needs a properly rated electrical supply — isolator switch, dedicated circuit, and correct cable sizing. Whether it is a new installation, a unit upgrade, or fixing an existing wiring issue, we handle the electrical scope so the system runs safely.

How we handle aircon electrical work

  • Sized to the unit, not guessed

We match cable size and breaker rating to the actual unit load. Oversizing wastes money, undersizing causes trips and heat buildup.

  • Clean routing

Cables run through trunking or conduit with a planned route. No loose cables draped across walls or exposed to weather.

  • Tested before handover

We check voltage, earth continuity, and insulation resistance before powering up. The unit runs on a confirmed-safe circuit.

When aircon electrical work is needed

These situations require electrical work as part of the aircon scope. Some are part of a new installation, others are standalone fixes.

  • New aircon installation that needs a dedicated circuit and isolator
  • Upgrading to a higher-capacity unit that exceeds the existing cable rating
  • Isolator switch is missing, damaged, or not to current standards
  • Breaker trips when the aircon starts — possible undersized circuit
  • Relocating the outdoor unit and the power cable needs rerouting
  • Renovation that changes the aircon layout and power point positions

How aircon electrical work is scoped

We assess the existing electrical setup, confirm what needs changing, and complete the work to meet the unit requirements and local standards.

  1. 1. Electrical assessment

We check the existing circuit, cable size, isolator, and breaker rating against the aircon load. This tells us whether the current setup is adequate or needs upgrading.

  2. 2. Scope confirmation

We confirm what work is needed — new isolator, cable upgrade, dedicated circuit, or power point relocation. The scope and cost are agreed before any work starts.

  3. 3. Cable and conduit routing

New cables are routed through trunking or conduit. We plan the route to keep cable runs short and neat, avoiding exposed wiring where possible.

  4. 4. Isolator and connection

The isolator switch is installed near the outdoor unit as required. The aircon unit is connected to the dedicated circuit through the isolator.

  5. 5. Testing and handover

We test the circuit for correct voltage, earth continuity, and insulation resistance. The system is powered up and confirmed running normally before handover.

Pricing

Cost depends on the scope — a simple isolator install is different from running a new dedicated circuit from the distribution board. We quote after assessing the site.

  • Isolator switch installation is the most common standalone job
  • Dedicated circuit wiring depends on cable run length and routing
  • Cable upgrades are needed when the unit capacity increases
  • No work starts until you agree to the full quote

Booking and visit timing

Most electrical work is completed in a single visit. Longer cable runs or DB board work may need additional time.

  • Isolator installation typically completed in under an hour
  • Dedicated circuit wiring depends on cable run distance
  • Combined with installation — electrical work is done on the same day
  • We confirm timing after the site assessment

What we cover

Aircon electrical work covers everything between the distribution board and the unit. We handle the aircon-side scope — not general household rewiring.

  • Isolator switch — required safety disconnect near the outdoor unit
  • Dedicated circuit — separate breaker for the aircon load
  • Cable sizing — matched to the unit amperage and cable run length
  • Power point relocation — moving the supply point for a new unit position
  • Trunking and conduit — neat cable routing along walls and ceilings
  • Earth bonding — proper earth connection for the outdoor unit

Common electrical issues we fix

These are the electrical faults and gaps we see most often on residential aircon systems in Singapore.

  • Missing isolator — unit connected without a local disconnect switch
  • Undersized cable — cable rating too low for the unit, causing heat or trips
  • Shared circuit — aircon sharing a breaker with other appliances
  • Damaged cable — cracked insulation from age, sun exposure, or pest damage
  • Loose connections — intermittent power or arcing at terminal blocks
  • No earth — outdoor unit not earthed, safety risk during a fault

What we do not cover

Our scope is the aircon electrical connection. General household electrical work falls outside this scope.

  • DB board upgrades or main supply changes — handled by a licensed electrician
  • General power point additions unrelated to aircon
  • Lighting, fan, or appliance wiring
  • EMA metering or supply authority coordination
