Aircon Kitchen Weak Airflow, Grease Buildup
Aircon case in Hougang, Singapore: airflow traced to grease and dust buildup on blower wheel causing airflow restriction after targeted diagnosis checks.
Case Details
- Reported
- The room took much longer to cool. Air at the vent felt cool, but the push was weak and comfort dropped during cooking hours.
- Unit
- Daikin · Wall-mounted · 6 years old
- Location
- Landed · Hougang, Singapore
What We Checked
- Filter had moderate dust but not enough to explain airflow drop.
- Coil face had light residue.
- Blower wheel fins had sticky grease film and dust loading.
- Fan motor speed response was stable.
The Diagnosis
Grease film mixed with dust built up on the blower wheel fins. This changed blade profile and reduced effective air movement.
What Fixed It
No motor replacement required. We performed deep wheel cleaning, restored airflow path, and verified fan throw performance.
Air delivery improved and room cooldown time returned to normal behavior.
Why This Happens
Why cold air with weak throw usually points to restriction.
- Cool vent temperature with low airflow often means an airflow-path restriction.
- Blower-wheel buildup can mimic fan-motor failure and mislead diagnosis.
- Checking filter, coil face, and wheel condition in sequence prevents wrong part replacement.
